Local SEO Across San Francisco Neighborhoods

In a city seven miles across, the neighborhood is the search. The city name barely appears.

Use the names people actually type

The Mission, the Sunset, the Richmond, Bernal, Noe, Dogpatch, the Excelsior. People search the neighborhood and the shorthand, and they are precise about it.

Match the vocabulary, including the splits. Inner and Outer Sunset are different trips and increasingly different searches.

Do not clone the page eight times

The usual approach writes one page and swaps the name. Search engines caught on years ago, and customers notice when the Sunset page talks about sunshine.

If the only difference between two pages is a proper noun, you have one page.

The fog is a real business fact

The Sunset and Richmond stay damp and cool for months while the Mission is twenty degrees warmer in the same hour. That changes paint schedules, mold and mildew work, exterior wood, and when people book anything outdoors.

A page that mentions it reads as local instantly, because every resident has an opinion about it.

The housing stock is the difference

The Sunset is rows of near-identical stucco houses with garages underneath. The Mission runs Victorians and flats above storefronts. The Marina sits on fill and has its own reputation after every earthquake.

Say what that means for your work: the access problem, the typical job, the thing that surprises people about the price.

Describe boundaries as drives, not radii

A three-mile radius is meaningless when three miles crosses two hills and ends somewhere with no parking. Crosstown at five is a different job from crosstown at ten.

Describe it the way you dispatch it. East of Twin Peaks. Anything north of Market. Outer neighborhoods on scheduled days only.

Measure calls, not visits

Watch which neighborhood pages produce work. Modest traffic and three jobs a month beats ten times the visits and a silent phone.

Give it two months. If a page has not earned anything, it usually does not say anything specific enough.
